I could do all my shopping at Korin, the Japanese restaurant supply store and knife store, and in past years I have.

CHURCH STREET SURPLUS
Celebrating 53 years, the store has collections of military items from around the world — and then some.
••• Ties are making a comeback, and these vintage ones from the 1940s could not be cooler. $20.

ONDA BEAUTY
117 West Broadway | Reade & Duane
Tribecan Larissa Thomson relaunched the clean beauty shop and spa at its original location, and she’s often there for a consult on the season’s best items. Definitely check out her gift boxes. But on our list:
••• The Drowsy silk sleep mask — it’s like a pillow for your face. Great for the traveler, too. $79
••• The Roz milk hair serum is one of those things you won’t buy for yourself, but you’ll be glad someone did it for you. $52

ELAN FLOWERS

Yes, they are an amazing florist. They also have a very well stocked retail situation in the front of the store, with a top-notch buyer.
••• A champagne trug, because then you can say you know what it’s called. From the Anglo Saxon ‘trog,’ meaning boat shaped vessel. Deliver it filled. $290.
••• The history of the city’s Flower District — a fundraiser for a potential floral market museum. Not available on Amazon! $36

TEA DEALERS & CERAMICS
90 Hudson at Harrison
The husband and wife team offer, as the name says, teas and ceramics from around the world. She is the artist; he is the brew expert. Tea tastings there would also make a great gift!

Tribecan Andy Scheman is the third generation owner of our last remaining hardware store — and he has great gifts for the practical sorts.
••• I’ll stand by this: the Stanley growler, which, by the way, you can drop from enormous heights. Deliver it filled. $57

PEARL RIVER MART

The one honorary Soho mention on this list: the famed Chinese emporium moved during the pandemic from Walker to one block north of Canal.

Based in Detroit, the watchmaker always has the craftiest gifts.

The business has been in the city since 1946 and is destination retail for both beginners and the most advanced collectors. Great stocking stuffers too.

THE CITY STORE
1 Centre at Chambers
The city’s officially licensed merch operation has a renovated home on Centre and Chambers. It’s expanding its offerings soon. Stocking stuffer central.
••• Ceramic pigeon salt and pepper shakers, for the formal tabletop. $16
••• I am not sure what you do with one of these, but they are so cool. Legit retired TLC medallions. $20

HAPPIER GROCERY

Don’t skip the gourmet market’s downstairs for quirky gifts, a lot of which I have only ever seen online.
••• Yes, butt masks. Because: firm and tone! brighten and rejuvenate! $10
