Frankly Wines has closed

Frankly Wines, the wine store on West Broadway and Warren that was founded by Tribecan Christy Frank in 2007 and then doubled in size by its current owner, who purchased it in 2017, has closed. (Thanks to J. who first sent word and a photo.)

Liz Nicholson was not able to give me an official statement from the business, but she posted on her personal Instagram account that her business partner chose to abruptly close the business, “leaving myself, the staff, and our Tribeca community completely stunned.”

She said they were nearing the end of their lease and disagreed about the correct path forward, but still she did not imagine that the store would be shuttered on the Monday before Thanksgiving. UPDATE FROM THE OWNER: “We are still open but are taking some time for restructuring. Our gates will be open again soon.”

Her wine bar, Della’s, is still operating two doors up. And Liz will be selling wine through her friend’s store in Cobble Hill, The Wine Cellar by Popina, and will deliver to Tribeca each week through the end of December.

“I want to thank everyone that has supported, worked at or just loved Frankly,” Liz wrote. “It was a hell of a run with amazing bottles and people all around us. And for that I am extremely thankful.”
