WMP Pediatric Care will close at the end of January

WMP Boutique Pediatric Care, a concierge practice led by Tribecan and pediatrician Dr. Tiffany Otto Knipe, will close at the end of January after 11 years in the neighborhood. (That’s her with her sons at the practice’s fifth anniversary in 2020.) The practice will continue, but as advisors and consultants in collaboration with patient’s primary care providers.

“It became clear during the pandemic that much of the tailored, personalized guidance I provide families I can do over a zoom, telehealth or phone call,” Tiffany said. But it was still a difficult decision to close the doors.

Tiffany opened the practice in 2015 on Hudson and Laight — and tried to create an atmosphere would make her then-3-year-old more amenable to doctor’s visits. “He hates it!” she said at the time. “So I asked myself, ‘How can I get my own kid engaged?’” That led to themed exam rooms, doctors kits for kids, toys and puzzles in the waiting room.

She and her own childhood pediatrician then moved the practice to Washington and Laight, and created the concierge model under a new name: WMP Boutique Pediatric Care.

Tiffany said she does not have plans at this point to open another brick and mortar office, but intends to provide personalized pediatric guidance in this new role. (She will be reachable at the same email address: DrTiffany@wmp.nyc.) “It has been an honor to be such an integral part of so many families’ lives,” Tiffany said, “and watch their children grow over these past 11 years.”
