Willow & Zoey, the women’s clothing store that opened in the smaller space at 123 West Broadway and Duane in late 2023, is closing next month along with Babycottons, which opened in that space in 2022.
Coming in to the full commercial unit is Shahla Karimi, an eponymous fine jewelry brand founded initially as a hobby on Etsy in 2008 and then launched formally in 2014 out of Kentucky. They currently take appointments only out of their showroom on Broadway and Houston, so I am guessing this is their first retail store.
According to her bio on the brand’s website, Karimi has worked in product strategy and merchandising for Celine, Versace, Prada and Stella McCartney and produced apparel collections for Vogue and the CFDA, and served as director of merchandising for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. She is Kentucky bred and Manhattan based.
Owner Suzette LaValle will move Willow & Zoey — she said was reluctant to leave the neighborhood, but the jeweler’s insurance company would not cover the space with a separate tenant.
Babycottons, the Peruvian cotton line of children’s clothes followed A Uno — the longtime tenant in that spot — which departed for the Village in 2021.
Excited to be opening in Tribeca with our all-women team! I live nearby and we wanted our Flagship retail location to be at the intersection of architecture, design, and art!
