Salad Box, the grab and go spot on Park Place, looks like it has closed permanently (thanks to A. for the pics). The store is empty and the website does not seem to work — it goes to a link for SaladFox. Instagram has not been updated since 2022. But Google lists it as “closed temporarily.” I will keep an eye on it.
The fast casual opened in 2017 — the first US outpost of the third-largest restaurant chain in Romania. At that time it also has one in Miami. They opened in December of that year in the former Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect at 44 Park Place (part of 100 Church), between Church and West Broadway.
From the about page in 2017 on the company’s website:
The story began in 2011, when Dan Isai had an idea to offer Romanians a new lifestyle, based on healthy food at affordable prices. Three good friends joined him in his journey: Radu Lupas, Daniel Lar and Vlad Lupas, and in April 2012, they opened the first Salad Box restaurant, located in Cluj-Napoca, the second largest city in Romania. Their salads soon became so popular that in only one year they opened another 12 restaurants. And this was only the beginning. Soon Salad Box became the third largest restaurant chain in Romania with over 50 outlets and 600 employees. In 2016 Salad Box expanded in Hungary and Algeria. In 2017 we are opening new locations in the USA and UK.
