WINTER HIATUS FOR COFFEE PROJECT
V. noticed that the Coffee Project and Big Gay Ice Cream, which share a storefront at 450 Washington (at Desbrosses), were closed up this week. Then she spotted a sign that says they are taking a winter break from January 1 to 31. Odd. Neither company has returned my emails…
ANA’S HAIR STUDIO
The hair salon for women that was opened by the barbers at Tribeca Barber Spa now has a name: Ana’s. (Thanks to A. for the shot.)
PRINTMAKING AT BOWNE & CO.
The South Street Seaport Museum will host February Fresh Prints on February 5, 6 to 7:30p, at Bowne & Co at 211 Water Street. The fee is $5. This monthly event features a breadth of printing equipment that you are invited to use.. You also get to see how the designers at Bowne create designs that showcase the museum’s eccentric printing and graphic arts collection. Ages 12 and up welcome. All participants get to take home the items they print during the afternoon. Registration encouraged.
GOVERNORS ISLAND ICE SCULPTURE CONTEST
Governors Island Arts will host the fifth annual Ice Sculpture Show on February 7, from noon to 3p. The 10 finalists were chosen following an open call seeking designs inspired by the theme of “movement.” The selected finalists will be paired with professional ice carvers from Okamoto Studio to bring their visions to life.
