Salad spot out of Bondi Beach coming to 100 Barclay

THISBOWL (I think they capitalize everything), an Australian version of Sweetgreen — and it also was founded by college students — that arrived in the States in 2024, has taken a space at 100 Barclay on the West Street side. I am guessing it is the Starbucks’ space? They did not confirm details — only said to watch social media for an opening date. (Let me know if you see something!)

Forbes has a story from 2024: The company was founded by three friends — Nicolas Pestalozzi, Nathan Dalah and Casper Ettelson — while they were in college in 2016, with a location at Bondi Beach. “They raised about $250,000 to open its first location, about half provided by Dalah who had run a boat cleaning business in college and half from the landlord who believed in the 21-year-olds,” Forbes wrote. “It was a tiny space of about 300 square feet, seating about 7 people, and was mostly take-out, where people brought their salads to the beach.”

They now have 45 locations in Australia and when they opened in Noho they had lines out the door.

You pick the size of the bowl and pick your base (cabbage, rice, leaves) and then either make your own or get one of their signature combos: The OG is roasted chicken or salmon sashimi, kale, beets, red onion, edamame, roasted sesame, seaweed salad, avocado, spiced scallion crunch, tobiko; the Miso Eggplant comes with roasted tofu, kale, radish, cucumber, edamame, miso vinaigrette, ginger, spiced scallion crunch.

More TK if I decide to spend more time on Instagram!
