M. has already watched the first installment of “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette,” the Ryan Murphy anthology series, and says the very first scene is filmed in front of 53-55 Beach. It is streaming on Hulu and Disney+ and has nine episodes total.
KINDIE ROCK IN BATTERY PARK CITY
Battery Park City will host a series called Kindie Rock — for the littles with performers and dancing — on Wednesdays through March 25. There are two 45-minute sessions at 10 and 11a. 6 River Terrace.
MARITIME-THEMED BOOK CLUB
The Seaport Museum has a maritime-themed book club and the next meeting is Saturday, February 28, at noon with “Written in the Waters A Memoir of History, Home, and Belonging” by Tara Roberts. The event is free. Preregistration is encouraged. You don’t have to read the full selection to enjoy the event. More info here.
$1.50 FRESH PIZZA COMING TO CHAMBERS?
A. was told by a worker at the $1.50 Fresh Pizza shop on Canal and West Broadway that they are taking a space on Chambers — and his guess is the space where the ill-fated iPizzaNY was next door to 16 Handles. “I get two cheese slices for $4 ($3 plus 1 tip) & I like it. The pizza is always hot & fresh because they get a constant stream of customers.”

Welcome news about a $1.50 slice shop in Tribeca, if it’s true. I know that there has been inflation, tariffs, etc., but a little downward price pressure on this most basic fast food is good.
Two plain cheese slices at or above $8.00 puts a strain on full-time neighborhood residents and “day residents” – workers and students – so bring on the competition!
Always seems strange that so many NYC pizza places can charge so little…..
Are they exploiting their workers?
Are they just fronts for some sort of illegal activity?
As for students needing affordable food – public school students can get free lunch at school.
