Uniqlo, the Japanese fast fashion emporium, has taken the former H&M space in Westfield’s mall — just below Eataly. A. caught the signs for “coming fall 2026”; Fast Company had the news last November.
H&M closed in that spot on January 4.
The clothing apparel company, whose parent company is called Fast Retailing and includes Theory and Helmut Lang, was originally founded in Yamaguchi, Japan, in 1949 as a textiles manufacturer. There are now 2500 stores around the world — 77 in the states, 10 of which have opened in the past year.
This is the city’s eighth location, plus Bryant Park just opened; Williamsburg is any day now; and Union Square opens on April 3.
