J. asked: “It looks like there are work permits up for a new cafe where Terry’s used to be. Would be great for the Battery Park neighborhood if it was something good! Curious if you’ve heard anything?”
Indeed J. is right: there are permits filed in February with the Department of Buildings for “renovations for a 1st floor coffee shop.” So great news there.
There are not any liquor license applications filed, but they might still have one active at that site.
Terry’s deli was Chambers and River Terrace — right near the Rockefeller lawn and community garden — for 25 years and closed a year ago February. There’s still a 24-hour deli nearby on North End Avenue, the Battery Park City Gourmet Market.
