••• I walked by the new Leather Spa at 28 John on New Year’s Day, so it wasn’t open, but the storefront looks fantastic—a real step up for FiDi (especially compared to the I-Mobile phone store next door).
••• Shuggie Otis plays City Winery on Feb. 3. Below: “Sweet Thang.”
••• Yesterday, the boiler vent at Tribeca Tower (105 Duane) was as loud as it’s ever been, and possibly louder. The rep from Related Companies, which owns the building, said on Dec. 10 that a solution should have been ready in a few weeks. Jean Grillo, who lives nearby, says that there’s hope: “It appears that some work is being done on the exhaust system making the noise at ground level at the park. Green walls are now up around the biggest noise maker.”
••• I’ve been impressed with Le District‘s produce lately. The salad greens are far better than at Whole Foods, and the store carries actual watercress, which is much tastier than the bagged kind. Plus, these melons have been delicious.
••• I just realized that when 33 and 34 Park Row get razed to make way for a new 25-story building, we’re going to lose this old signage on Theatre Alley. (I assume it’s still there—I was walking along Ann Street when I thought of it, and I didn’t want to go check because Theatre Alley is extremely dark and I could hear people hanging out.) UPDATE: The headline should probably read “Semi-Historic Signage…,” because according to Mruptight, “While there was a Park Theater on Park Row, the signage on Theater Alley was a prop from Billy Bathgate (1991). Still sad to see it leave.”
••• Sale at Gary Graham this week:

Ha! Thanks for the clarification!
