••• The Community Board 1 agendas for July included a liquor-license application for 349 Greenwich, where Dean’s was. I spoke with one of the applicants, and the project is running into some funding issues, rendering it unlikely for this month’s meeting. So let’s let it wait till it’s on firmer ground.
••• From Notify NYC: “Two military F-18 aircraft will be conducting a planned flyover over the Hudson River [today] at 11 a.m. The aircraft will be flying from south to north at an altitude of approximately 1,500-2,000 feet.”
••• Got my hands on the slate of upcoming free weekend movies at the Roxy Hotel’s cinema. At least for the summer, it’s more crowd-pleasing than artsy, with a few curve balls. (Cruising?!) Maybe they’ll let me guest curate one day, and I can do a little introduction beforehand, à la Robert Osborne on Turner Classic Movies. The films are all at 4:30 p.m., and there are also kids’ movies on Sundays at noon.

••• I hear that part of the retail space at 101 Leonard (350 Broadway) has been leased to a café. That’s all we know for now—unless you know more…? If it’s a high-end one, it’ll be going head-to-head with the Blue Bottle up the street at 396 Broadway.
••• Apparently, the main character in “The Mindy Project” lives on N. Moore.
••• From the Lilac Preservation Project:
City of Water Day, a citywide festival sponsored by the Waterfront Alliance, has inspired an afternoon full of family fun at Lilac and nearby on Pier 25 on Saturday, July 16. Make sailboat-themed crafts with Sailors NYC from 12:00 to 4:00 in the Crew Mess, depart through the buoy port for a ride on the fireboat John J. Harvey at 2:30 (reservations required for one-hour harbor tour) or 3:45 (unreserved one-way trip to Pier 66), watch artist Rachel Lussier’s paintings of Lilac take shape from noon to 5 p.m., and learn to tie knots like a sailor with Barry Greene any time during the day—except when he’s helping dock the fireboat. On the pier, Hudson River Park educators will offer fishing lessons and other environmental demonstrations from noon to 4 p.m. Volunteers are still needed. If you can help, contact us.
