Halloween: The Biggest Day of the Year in Tribeca

And that’s no lie. If you’ve never walked around on Halloween around here—particularly before, during and after the Friends of Washington Market Park’s parade and party—brace yourself for a lot of cuteness. (Check out Asha Agnish’s photos from last year.) Here’s a rundown of what’s up this week. Know of other Halloween events? Email me at tribecacitizen@gmail.com or add ’em in the comments. Even New York Dolls is having a costume party—although dressing up strikes me as not quite the point of a strip club….

Note: Torly Kid said that folks had been asking when kids will be trick-or-treating; the shop will begin handing out 23 pounds of candy at of 3 p.m. on Sunday. Are other stores doing it on Sunday, too? Or on Saturday after the WMP event? Let me know and I’ll pass along the info!

THURSDAY, OCT. 28
••• Tribeca Meet & Greet—for locals and local business owners, sponsored by the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center—at Manhattan Children’s Theatre (6:30–9 p.m.). Wine by Frankly Wines; nibblybits from Max Delivery. Kids are welcome, and costumes are encouraged—or try on a MCT costume….

  1. What about Front Street on Halloween this year? Is anything going on?

  2. I know that Duane Park Patisserie and Ivy’s are giving out candy on Sunday as well. Not sure about anyone else.

  3. We’re planning to do candy and wine at Frankly Wines on Sunday. I think most shops usually go big on the actual day of Halloween. That’s my guess.

  4. I am excited for the Boogaween VII with Booga Sugar @ City Winery THIS Saturday! And its a costume party, nothing better than 80s music & costumes & Halloween in New York City!

  5. I just added two events for 10/31: a neighborhood parade north of the Seaport, and New Amsterdam Market.

  6. Anybody know what time Trick or Treating begins at the stores and bakeries in Tribeca on Sunday? 3pm? Later? Thanks!

  7. @Spookie’sMom – At Tribeca Treats we’re inviting Trick or Treater’s on Saturday after the Washinton Market parade until about 6, and then we will have treats available for Trick or Treater’s again on Sunday during our normal hours of 12-5, while supplies last. (Depends on how much we give out on Saturday.) Hope to see you!

  8. Too much is being made of Halloween, its for children and the adults are ruining it. So many uber protective parents have irrational fears of tainted candy and pedophiles, it’s insane! Let kids be kids and enjoy the day-it’s very safe!
