It’s been rumored since the summer of 2015 that Trader Joe’s was planning to open a store at the northwest corner of Sixth Ave. and Spring Street, in the old Janovic space, and now the company has confirmed it. The opening date is forecast for 2017, but when I peeked inside last week, there was no sign of a build-out. UPDATE 4/4: The windows have been unpapered, and there’s work of some kind going on inside. Here’s a peek at the interior.
This is really great news!
There is one opening everywhere but the Upper East side!
Seriously, why doesn’t TJ open up a location on the Upper East Side???!!! They’re everywhere except up here and they keep opening more and more locations in NYC. We have to take the long trip downtown to be able to shop and stand in line 20-30 minutes at the Union Square location! Really??! It’s a nightmare! Please TJ, open 1 store anywhere on the UES – it’s overdue!
Overwhelmingly excited for this. Probably going to kill at this location. Most of us in this area have to choose between Morton Williams on Bleecker or Gourmet Garage on Broome, both less than stellar price and quality-wise.
Great news!
Wine? Please let there be wine.
Excellent! One of my favs! I’m so excited!!!
