1) Spring Studios, 60 [sic] Varick Street, Community Advisory Committee – Discussion regarding appointment of members and committee vote
I believe a Community Advisory Committee was one of the stipulations agreed to for the liquor license, but I don’t know whether it’s been meeting or not. When they do, let’s hope someone asks about the private-club restaurant that’s supposed to be open to the public.
2) Jewish Community Project, street activity permit application for Duane Street between Broadway and Church Street, Thursday, October 5, 2017 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. (full street closure) – Resolution
Full-day street closure on a weekday is likely to raise concerns.

4) 109 West Broadway, application for enclosed sidewalk café for 109 West Broadway LLC – Resolution
5) 57 Murray Street, application for liquor license for Murray 57 LLC – Resolution
That’s the former Cricketer’s Arms. The contact address for Murray 57 LLC is 954 Beech St. in Long Beach, N.Y., which is also the site of a restaurant/bar called Lilly’s of Long Beach. If something along those lines is the plan for 57 Murray, residents will not be happy; they’ve been fighting the pub-ification of Murray for years. UPDATE 7/7: A reader pointed out that the State Liquor Authority database lists John G. Carey as a principal at Lilly’s of Long Beach. Carey has been involved in two pubs on Murray over the years: Biddy Early’s (43 Murray) and Lilly O’Briens (67 Murray and 18 Murray).

Joint Committees
1) 200 Water Street, Department of City Planning application for arcade infill and plaza upgrades – Resolution
In 2016, the City Planning Commission gave back public arcades to a bunch of FiDi buildings. Some of us thought the city ought to get something in return. But then the plan ran afoul of flood regulations; maybe 200 Water found a way around that. That’s a 200 Water arcade below; it’ll be a shame if we lose the mermaid mural.
2) POPS Comptroller Report – Presentation by Eric Holguin, Borough Liaison – Manhattan, Office of the NYC Comptroller

Location: Community Board 1 – Conference Room, 1 Centre Street, Room 2202A-North
1) Five Boro Bike Tour – Discussion with Sharon Pope, Director, Community Outreach and Membership, Bike New York
While some residents found this year’s event less intrusive, others were still made miserable by it, and hopefully CB1 will push Bike New York to make further changes. The ideal solution is to push the start time later, or better yet, move it to a non-residential area (especially if it has to happen at 7 a.m. on a Sunday morning).
2) 100 Greenwich Street construction project – Update by Paul Foschi, VP Of Construction, Omnibuild

UPDATE 7/10: At Jj’s request, here are the stipulations agreed to by Spring.

Not a fan of the mermans mermaid mural but very curious of what was in this location when it was painted in 1971- I see it says something about a pool?
From the Municipal Art Society: “A giant fishing lure hangs above a pool of water, its cascading hooks ready to ensnare the next victim. Entitled Very Large Fish Lure, the sculpture is credited to the Rebel Fishing Lure Co., with concept design by Rudolph de Harak, a Kaufman favorite used at other buildings. A nearby impression on the arcade wall, entitled Merman’s Mermaid (1971), by Forrest Wilson, continues the water-based theme. The rectangular water pool has six jets, viewed from above on the adult jungle gym and its multiple levels of seating.” / https://apops.mas.org/pops/108/
“52 Walker Street, application for alteration of liquor license to address the matter of exterior security for KNH Enterprises LLC d/b/a M1-5”
What’s this about? Any further details on this?
I’d guess there’s a stipulation that M1-5 has to have exterior security, and M1-5 would probably like that stipulation removed. CB1 would be able to give more info: man01@cb.nyc.gov.
You wrote, about the Five Boro Bike Tour:

Um, no. The start time won’t be moved later. As one who has ridden the 5BBT 15-20 times, I can attest to the intricate ways the highway closures in all five boroughs have been optimized over time; it ain’t gonna change. Ditto re venue.
What needs to, and can, change is the amplification. Just pull the sound permit, and all will be well, i.e., quiet.
Why can’t the starting area be moved south a few blocks to Church and Vesey Streets (and near our $4 billion white transit elephant) ? The impact on the street closing logistics of a few blocks south can’t be all that great in exchange for the reduction of impact on a residential neighborhood.
Unfortunately, I cannot attend the Quality of Life meeting that night so I’ve offered to submit a written statement.
I still had major sound issues this year. With my window shut, the sound levels exceeded the legal limits for an OPENED window. Not appropriate for 7 am on Sunday.
There is no need for the amplification at all. Friends who have ridden the tour say they don’t care about all that. All they want is to start their wave.
Re: Bike New York: YES I totally agree with Komanoff — it’s the loud super-amplified sound that is annoying, not the bikers.
No one disagrees, except to say that for the present, the amplified sound and the bikers are a package deal. No one is complaining about closed-off streets, for example.
Spring Studios – does someone have a list of the original commitments and which of them they have met?
I added them to the end of this post.
