••• On the block of Greenwich in front of 443 Greenwich, parking isn’t allowed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, but everyone—including a 443 Greenwich doorman—does it anyway, so now the condo blocks off an area for its own use. It’s like the bougie version of the wild west out here.
••• From October 26 to November 1, three Walker Street galleries are joining Artists Space for Social Surfaces, a benefit for the organization’s move to 80 White. The galleries are Alexander and Bonin, Bortolami, and Pearl River Mart. “Artists have generously donated major artworks, many made specifically for the occasion, and Social Surfaces will present their rigorous and groundbreaking artistic practices along with important archival and historical materials that document Artists Space’s rich history. An active program of performances, screenings, readings, and other activities will accompany the exhibition. Social Surfaces is not an auction, and funds raised will directly benefit construction in the new, state-of-the-art building, with participating artists recognized as 80 White Street Founding Artists.”
••• Eyewear brand Oliver Peoples is opening a store at Brookfield Place. It’s upstairs off the Winter Garden, next to Financier.
••• While we knew that Suitsupply was renting two more storefronts in Brookfield Place, and that one would be for its women’s line, did we know that the women’s line is called Suistudio? That’s awfully closed to the Phil Collins Song That Must Not Be Named….
••• Something appears to have happened at Tribeca Twelve, the Hazelden facility for students in recovery at 283 W. Broadway. Many/most/all of the meetings held there have been moved to other locations.
••• Two-towered condo 565 Broome is getting glassed.
••• I don’t walk down Desbrosses that often, so this might not be news, but Post Factory NY at 12 Desbrosses is now Sim International. (Indeed, the latter bought the former in 2015.)
Great! Get a doorman in trouble. Nice move and completely unnecessary. We get it-you don’t like parked cars. Leave all working class people alone. There aren’t many left in this neighborhood.
since when do working class doormen drive car to their job?
All of the doormen at my former building drove their car to the job.
