••• The chili lobster at Marc Forgione made New York Times restaurant critic Sam Shifton’s top-ten dishes of 2010: “An upscale take on the classic Singaporean dish of chili crab, Marc Forgione’s appetizer (at his rustic and comfortable Tribeca restaurant) offers cull lobster in a fiery sea of butter and sriracha, ginger, soy and lobster stock, with a faint note of lime acidity on top. Big hunks of Texas toast come along with, in place of steamed buns.” I had another great dinner there the other night—the Sunday Supper (three courses for $44) is a sweet deal, though they’ll get you on the hooch—but I can’t figure out why the hosts take walk-ins’ names.

••• Ed Hynes, the ex-chief of the Bergen County Improvement Authority, is under fire for spending too much, including on dinners at Duane Park: “Another favorite meeting place for Hynes: Duane Park, billed as one of Tribeca’s hippest eateries. It features hot jazz, bayou-style cuisine and, at times, feather-bearing burlesque dancers with names like Melody Sweets.” (NorthJersey.com)
