Disney isn’t the only major corporation moving into Hudson Square. From Google’s announcement today: “We’re taking the next step in our commitment to our New York City presence by investing over $1 billion in capital improvements to establish a new campus, Google Hudson Square. The over 1.7 million square-foot campus is a result of lease agreements at 315 and 345 Hudson Street and a signed letter of intent at 550 Washington Street. […] We hope to start moving into the two Hudson Street buildings by 2020, followed by 550 Washington Street in 2022 once the building is complete. Google Hudson Square will be the primary location for our New York-based Global Business Organization.”

315 Hudson is on the west side of Hudson, between Vandam and Spring; 345 Hudson is two blocks north, between King and Charlton. And 550 Washington is the southern part of the big building at Houston. From Curbed back in October: “Initially, this portion of the site would also have seen the construction of a residential development and a hotel, but Oxford [Properties Group] has decided to pursue an as-of-right office development. The project will now span 1.3 million square feet over stories 12 stories—the top floor of the existing four-story building will be removed, and Oxford will build a nine-story addition to the existing structure. […] In the first phase of development, the overpass covering West Houston Street on the north side of the terminal building will be removed to expose the [railroad] tracks connecting the building to Hudson River Park, and the waterfront.” That’s 550 Washington in the renderings above and below (by CookFox Architects).

The announcement says the Hudson Square real estate will be more than 1.7 million square feet, and 1.3 of that is presumably 550 Washington. That lease 400,000 square feet in the two Hudson Street buildings. Here’s hoping that doesn’t mean displacing the Children’s Museum of the Arts (at 345 Hudson) or other existing tenants. UPDATE: Some clarity on 315 Hudson from the building’s owner, Jack Resnick & Sons: “At 315 Hudson, Google will create a modern and highly-collaborative office environment encompassing five full floors (6 through 10), as well as portions of the 5th floor. The Google space will include open workspaces and amenities like a rooftop garden, indoor and outdoor event spaces to host clients and community events, and a cafe. There will also be a dedicated lobby on the ground floor and a bicycle storage room on the lower level.”
