A few of us neighbors got to thinking the new bridal shop on Jay – Flora Vere – was going to be a flower shop, and low-and-behold, it now is! Extrafloral, a floral design studio out of Red Hook, has opened in the front of the store, and offer some retail hours and daily deliveries to the neighborhood of their exquisite and stylized bouquets. Jackie Hartnett studied at the New York Botanical Garden and started freelancing as a floral designer for events and for standing clients. (Starting price for delivery is $95 within lower Manhattan, with no added delivery fee for Tribeca.)

She met the Flora Vere folks while they were using her client’s showroom; with plans to take on a storefront in Tribeca, they added Jackie’s shop. She lives in Carroll Gardens and is well established in what the Brooklynites are calling BoCoCa for Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens (oof).

Safe to say there’s not a lot of baby’s breath coming in — or out — of the studio. “What we do is a little more contemporary.” I couldn’t decide which photos to use – one is prettier than the next – so I just used them all.
