Seen & Heard: What in Tribeca?

WHAT IN TRIBECA?
As the first (and maybe the only) in a new series called “What in Tribeca?” K. sent in this curious photo taken at Broadway and Chambers. Anyone have a clue?

THE NEW VIEW UP CHURCH STREET
The corner of Chambers and Church is now fully free of a sidewalk shed, now that Tribeca Rogue (I know, but put that aside for a minute) at 146 Church is finished (photo below and above). The new 10-story, mixed-use residential building has eight one- to three-bedroom full-floor condos with keyed elevator access into each apartment. The building also has landscaped terraces on the seventh and penthouse floors and a private rooftop for the penthouse. Most of all it is just so refreshing to see that corner liberated from the sidewalk bridge, and have that unencumbered view north. It also makes the building immediately to the south look drab by comparison.

BEER GARDEN COMING TO THE OCULUS
A beer garden is coming to the 2 WTC site next to the Oculus, facing Church Street. Stay tuned for more details on the official opening later this month.

WALKING THROUGH HISTORY
The Commercial Observer put together a walking tour of revolutionary war Fidi for July 4, but good for anytime! Stops include One Broadway and Federal Hall.

THE SUIT FITS
Women’s business wear Argent has opened a NYC pop-up in Soho at 463 Broome and Greene. A fave of Hillary Clinton and Amy Poehler. By appointment only. Founded in 2016 by two millennials; this from Forbes: “With Christeson’s background in the tech and corporate worlds and Turner’s status as a SCAD fashion alum who has worked for J. Crew and Tory Burch, the duo is the perfect complement as co-founders of Argent. To fund their launch, Turner and Christeson raised a seed round from a group of angel investors who represent different industries and all serve as advisors to the company.”

  1. That thing looks like a fertilizer spreader, but I don’t think the sidewalk needs much fertilizing.

  2. salt spreader. Out of season (I hope)

  3. Just noticed that there’s a new WeWork at 408 Broadway. The school that used to be in that space is gone.

  4. Looks like something I would do when having to carry a very heavy can of paint or construction material like compound and having to transport it to my destination? But maybe its a modern art installation! It would certainly catch your attention, regards, Sonia Stock

  5. Looks like that might be on Broadway near City Hall. If that’s the case, its most likely Mayor Bill’s Goodwill Spreader. He lost it after the US Women’s Soccer parade. He’ll be so happy it has been found. He wanted to take it with him to Detroit this week for the next presidential debates so he can spread his er, goodwill, around the debate stage.
