In the News: Museum of Ice Cream opening Soho location

MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM COMING THIS FALL
The San Francisco museum is opening a roughly 25,000 square foot flagship in Soho this fall. There will 13 new ice cream centric exhibits, and visitors will be able to “dive into MOIC’s biggest sprinkle pool ever, savor sweet treats on a floating table, slide down a three-story slide, and more as they delight all five senses,” according to NYMetroParents. There is no word yet on the exact date of the opening, but a waitlist for families is already out.

AIRSHOW OVER THE HUDSON
Patch reported that U.S. and U.K. military jets will fly  down the Hudson River and pass over the Statue of Liberty this morning at 9:30 a.m. It is just a taste of what will happen at the New York International Air Show this weekend at Stewart International Airport. The convoy includes Red Arrows (United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force) Thunderbirds (U.S. Air Force) and Blue Angels (U.S. Navy).

CITY ALLOWED TO CUT DOWN ON PARK VENDORS
A New York appellate court ruled that the city has the right to restrict the number of vendors inside four city parks. The legal battle has been going on since 2010, and impacts only “vendors of ‘expressive matter’ such as paintings, photos, entertainment, newspapers and books,” said Reuters. The ruling will impact those in Central Park (below 86th Street) Union Square, Battery Park and on the High Line.

MERYL STREEP PENTHOUSE PRICE CUT
The penthouse is now listed at $18.25 million, a drop from the initial asking of $19.75 million. The four-bedroom abode is located on 92 Laight Street at the famed River Lofts, and is more than 4,000 square feet, according to the Post. Streep and her husband bought in 2006 for a paltry $10.13 million, and have been trying to sell since August of last year.
