WMP SUMMER CONCERTS ARE NOW IN SEPTEMBER
Due to heavy rain in June, the summer concert series was rescheduled for this week, Thursday, Sept. 19, with Rolie Polie Guacamole, and next week, Sept. 26, with Astrograss. Both concerts start at 5:30p.
LOCAL ARTIST HAS INSTALLATION AT LOVE, HENRY
Native Tribecan Azikiwe Mohammed, who has taught at Church Street School of Music and Art for years, has an installation at Love, Henry – the curated shop in Two Bridges owned by locals Cass Lilien, Kristina Rinaldi and Catherine Fenton Bernath — titled “Auntie, Uncle Julius, Welcome Always” open through Sept. 29. More on the show TK, but wanted to get this up in the meantime. Love, Henry is at 105 Henry St.
LOCAL FRAMERS MAKE THE SILVER SCREEN
I just love this sort of Tribeca connection: For the few of you who did not read “The Goldfinch,” the book revolves around a boy’s mysterious connection to a painting, which all begins with a trip to the Met. The frame for the copy of the painting featured in the movie trailer (which opened this weekend) is a genuine antique 17th century Dutch portrait frame from the collection of Gill & Lagodich Gallery on Franklin Street. The gallery also provided 40+ antique and custom-made replica frames for other art in the movie.
SHOUT OUT TO THE PS 234 GARDENERS…
The garden is looking so spectacular right now, I had to post some pics and offer a big thank you to the gals who keep that garden blooming. Sure makes Greenwich Street construction a lot easier to take.
