Seen & Heard: Sing your heart out in Duane Park

OPEN MIC FOR KIDS AT DUANE PARK
Friends of Duane Park will host an open mic night for kids at Duane Park on Friday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 8p. Interested kids must sign up, first come, first served, by emailing info@duanepark.org – FYI, there’s a limited number of three-minute spots. Kids can choose to sing, play music or do stand-up, and there will be musical accompaniment by Church Street School musician Wilson Montouri as well as a keyboardist.

BARKTOBER AT READE STREET ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Reade Street Animal Hospital will host a pet adoption event on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 2 to 5p. There will be catered food, drinks, face painters and a balloon artist and most importantly, Animal Care and Control Services will set up its adoption truck in the front of the practice. Tribeca Pet Services will be there as well.

JUNGLE ROOM HEADED SOUTH
If you haven’t made it to Gitano — the crazy outdoor tropical bar on Canal and Varick — yet this season, now’s your chance. It closes Oct. 13 for good. It was only a two-year deal to begin with for the Trinity-owned lot that I believe is officially 417-423 Canal.
