TASTE OF THE SEAPORT THIS SATURDAY
The 10th Annual Taste of the Seaport is this weekend: Saturday, Oct. 19, from noon to 3p on Pier 16 and 17. There will be music, children’s activities and treats from more than 40 local food and bev purveyors. Proceeds from the event benefit arts and enrichment programs at Peck Slip School and Spruce Street School. All the regulars will be there, plus the newcomers: Coco, R17, Malibu Farm, The Fulton. A punch card is $45. Advance tickets for tables and family packs are here.

NO REASONS BEHIND MAISON KAYSER CLOSING
The folks at Maison Kayser declined to explain the reasons behind the store’s closing, and wrote to say they are continuing to expand and have a new store at Hudson Yards and have more planned for the future. The spokeswoman added: “We are truly grateful to have been part of such a vibrant neighborhood and great community these past years.” The chain still has 15 outlets in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn; the Bleecker Street location closed in July 2018; Susan Swan noted the Union Square location has also closed.

SINGLE USE PLASTICS ARE CREEPY!
The Hudson Square BID has 150 spooky birds on display through Halloween, hanging in the trees around the district. Local artists Vicky Shum and Zofi Lipton (V + Z) used single-use plastics to create the creatures as a way to comment on the creepy use of those materials, a third of which they found on the city streets. (And they will reuse them or recycle when the art comes down.)

WIFI FOR WAGNER, TEARDROP, ROCKEFELLER
The Alliance for Downtown New York and the Battery Park City Authority added 1.5 million square feet of free Wi-Fi coverage to Rockefeller, Teardrop and Wagner parks, and in 2020 will expand the coverage to the esplanade. The network is #DwtwnAllianceFreeWiFi and now spans six million square feet throughout the area and is accessed more than a half million times each year. 1. Just wondering why several events listed in the Monday Oct 21 Tribeca Citizen actually took place last weekend. Have found that this has been happening regularly. Explanation? Solution?
