DANIIL TRIFONOV AND HIS LIFE AS A NEW YORKER
The Times has a profile of the 28-year-old pianist Daniil Trifonov, who lives in Battery Park City with his wife, Judith Ramirez, and their Yorkie, Ori, and is the artist in residence at the New York Philharmonic. His first performance of the season was as the soloist in Scriabin’s Piano Concerto last month.

And the story has this cute anecdote: “Mr. Trifonov practices inside his apartment, in a large Battery Park City tower. His piano can be heard from the hallway, though most of his neighbors don’t know they’re listening to one of the world’s most distinguished pianists. He’s thankful he hasn’t received any complaints — except for a time when he was playing Stockhausen’s “Klavierstück IX,” which begins with the same chord repeated well over 100 times. A woman knocked on his door, asking him to please stop.”

WTC SITE 5 COULD RISE TO 900 FEET
Attack of the Supertalls Alert: The Trib has the update on Site 5 at the World Trade Center, where Silverstein Properties and Brookfield Properties are teaming up to build a residential tower just south of Liberty Park. It would be another super tall: 900 feet tall with 1 million square feet (plus some sort of community “benefit” such as a school or community center). Yipes.
