GREENWICH HOTEL GETS GOLD STATUS
Condé Nast Traveler released its 2020 Gold List (it’s worth scrolling through the ones in more exoctic locales than ours) of the world’s best hotels, resorts and cruises and the Greenwich Hotel made the list, one of five in the city. The selections, curated by editors in New York and London, “exemplify the gold standard of service and hospitality.” This is what they said: “Each of the 88 rooms is idiosyncratically arranged with antique silk rugs, the odd vintage table, and marble bathtubs, while the TriBeCa Penthouse is earthy and minimalist. But the enduring revelation is the Shibui Spa, where the lantern-lit pool glimmers under the beams of a 250-year-old Japanese farmhouse.”

TOFU DYNASTY IN CHINATOWN
ICYMI, this is an old story but such a fun read: the grandson of a greatly admired tofu producer — the business was called Fong Inn Too on Mott — goes about trying to recreate his legacy but there’s a catch: the recipes were never written down.
WHAT CITIBANK EATS
The Bangkok Post (yes, I am a subscriber) has some interesting stats about Citibank: Turns out the company cafeteria, which is called – ouch – Three Eighty Ate — serves 3,700 customers a day and sold 3,000 slices of breakfast pizza, 12,000 smoothies and 27,000 sushi rolls in its first year of operation.
