I LIKE MIKE
Local folk Mia Jung and Scott Lawin hosted what I will call an info session (remember — no need for fundraisers here!) for Mike Bloomberg in his run for the Democratic nomination for president. Rob Goldrich, who worked for Bloomberg at City Hall in economic development and is now an advisor to the campaign, gave the presentation along with national associate Lily Patricof. The plan, they said, is to win, but more specifically to strike hard in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida. Of course, they won’t neglect the 13 Super Tuesday states as well, coming up on March 3.

MARC FORGIONE’S NEW OLD RESTAURANT
Marc Forgione has taken over Peasant (at 194 Elizabeth) from the owners who opened it 20 years ago — chef Frank DeCarlo and Dulcinea Benson. The Italian restaurant serves handmade pastas, wood-fired dishes and Italian wines in a warm and refined setting. Chef Frank DeCarlo and Dulcinea Benson originally opened Peasant in 1999 and after twenty years of hav. Forgione was a regular so it’s a good fit. There’s also a downstairs wine bar that fits 25 for private events.

FRENCHETTE GOES WEST
Eater reported that “Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr, the chef duo behind Tribeca hotspot Frenchette, created the menu for the swanky Vanity Fair Oscar party. Highlights included bass wrapped in parchment, a French-style roast chicken, and a cocoa pavlova.”

GOING GREEN AT MILLENNIUM HS
Millennium High School is one of 54 public schools in the city to receive a “Green Team” grant from the Citizens Committee for New York City and the NYC Department of Sanitation. The projects must be aimed at reducing waste, addressing climate change, and creating a more sustainable school community.
