LIGHTS OF HOPE
City buildings are lighting up red, white and blue as a tribute to health care workers during the time of the virus. Above, One Centre captured by Tribecan Scott Geyer, and below, Brookfield Place.
VANDALS AT WORK
I emailed Christiane Celle, the owner of Clic, whose window was broken on West Broadway to check that it was done by vandals and not an accident and yes, that is the case. From Christiane: “Thank you for asking. I hope that everybody is well in Tribeca. We think somebody just decided to throw an object in the window just to make some damages. I am not sure if people were trying to steal anything or just throw something to create chaos.” The window is now covered — as are the windows of some luxury retailers in Soho. “I hope this will be over soon.”
LES ENFANTS DE BOHEME RAISING FUNDS
G. wrote to ask that I give a shout out to the folks at LES Enfants de Bohème in Two Bridges at 177 Henry and their GoFundMe effort to support staff. Find it here. Says G.: “It is my favorite spot and I have lived in Tribeca for 23 years. I travel over there a couple times per week. I know that many Tribecans love this place but I don’t know how to let them know about this.”
BROOKLYN ROBOT FOUNDRY SPRING BREAK + BEYOND
Brooklyn Robot Foundry is doing a special online “spring break” program next week for anyone who’s still in NYC and needs to supplement kids’ schedules because schools are doing minimal plans all week. Register by midnight TODAY (April 10) so they can deliver essential robot parts over the weekend.
They are also offering individual, live-streaming classes where students learn basic engineering principles as they build and customize a very cool robot. The Foundry’s super low student-to-teacher ratio, along with their unique building process, allow students to attend these “drop-off” classes without additional assistance from parents. Plus, children can play with their robot long after class. Purchase as many classes as you want and they’ll send the corresponding robot kits. Order three or more kits, for 10% off. (Use coupon code: MoreRobots) Once you receive the kits, they’ll schedule your child into the next live, online class for that particular robot.
Stefan who manages Les Enfants de Boheme is an extraordinary individual – he gives so much to our community. Let’s save our small, favorite places.
