There may be more than a few 12s out there — but hoping this is the only one that looks just like this. (If you can recognize the object, this could be a fun hunt.) Where is it?
….Billy Buttons got it — on Desbrosses just off Hudson. Tiptoptribeca may have found another 12 on Vestry? The city’s Open Data system actually shows every hydrant in the city, but I am not sure how they are labeled. Here’s the data on this one:

Yes, Buttons. This is west of the southwest corner of Debrossess and Hudson Sts, I/F/O Debrosses St side of 195 Hudson Street.

“Smith Low Pressure Hydrant – The Smith hydrant has a black barrel with a silver bonnet. There are two outlets, one 2 1/2 inch and one 4 1/2 inch. […] The number on the barrel of the hydrant indicates the size of the main [i.e., the water pipe diameter in inches] supplying the hydrant. […]”
