DA MIKELE BY LUZZO’S
Da Mikele by Luzzo’s, the Neapolitan “pizzoteca” — a blend of pizzeria, paninoteca and enoteca — on Church and White, has a for-rent sign in the window and is clearly closed. Owner Michele Iuliano started with Luzzo’s in the East Village, Ovest in Chelsea, the two Gnoccerias — East 4th and Wall Street — and the newly opened Ampia rooftop at 100 Broad, so at least we know where to find him.

DAVID WEEKS IS MOVING TO BROOKLYN
David Weeks Studio, the lighting designer that opened on Walker in 2012, is moving its operations to Brooklyn, where they can “better control our surroundings.” The decision to leave the (very beautiful) space on Walker was not an easy one, but, they announced, “the pandemic has, without a doubt, changed our approach to business, collaboration and creativity… We recognize that the ways of doing business are changing rapidly and it’s up to us to respond with agility and creativity.” The new studio is at 1818 Atlantic Ave.

GREY DOG GIVING UP ECCO SPACE
The Grey Dog, the local downtown chain that was scheduled to move into the Ecco! space on Chambers, has given up its lease. “Unfortunately we had to walk away from Chambers,” wrote co-owner Dave Ethan. “We didn’t have enough money to build the place out. Right now it’s just about keeping the brand alive.” Wishing them luck.
