Sarabeth’s, which in its prominent corner at Greenwich and Jay in the former Bazzini building has been noticeably absent as the neighborhood started to awaken, will reopen Friday Oct. 2 for weekends only to start. They will then open Friday, Oct. 9, through Monday the 12th (for Columbus Day) and will take it from there. Seven days is likely in the future.

The manager told me that the menu will be a bit smaller than usual but it will be all-day and of course include their brunch items. It will be updated this week on the website if you want to start thinking about your order now. Seating will be outdoors as well as indoors at 25 percent capacity.
Back in July, Sarabeth’s announced on Instagram that it was in the process of opening its restaurants on the Upper West Side, Central Park South and Park Avenue South. But they closed their Upper East Side restaurant, their first, which opened in 1983 on Madison and 93rd, for good. (They opened ours, their largest in the city, in 2011.)

This chain isn’t getting my business when many independent restaurants have been open throughout the pandemic (hello Gigino’s Trattoria) and way before fairweather Sarabeth’s decided to come back (hello L’Angolo next door to Gigino’s.) Besides their food is overpriced mediocrity.
I welcome Sarabeth’s back. All retail and restaurants are struggling now and i am excited to support our local places.
