Since I was a loyal client, I was really disappointed — but I guess not entirely surprised, given the state of things — to see that Xtend Tribeca, on Warren between West Broadway and Greenwich, has closed permanently. They opened just three years ago, and from what I could tell in class, had a devoted following of 20- and 30-somethings (with me thrown in for diversity).
There was a great vibe in there, but I imagine many of their clients came from the offices nearby, which of course have not returned. Studio gyms across the city are only open for one-on-one sessions.
“While we had high hopes to re-open when the city gave us the green light, it is with heartfelt emotion that due to Covid-19 and our forced closure for the safety of our beloved city, that we close our doors for good,” the staff wrote in an email to clients. “So many relationships were built, milestones reached and workouts experienced over the last three years. We want to thank you for your support and for making Xtend Tribeca such a special place. We will miss you all.”
Xtend Tribeca was one franchise of a smallish chain which still has five studios operating across the country. And the Brooklyn studio is offering online classes here. (Email them at bk@xtendbarre.com if you want to try the 10 days for $20.)
