A. wrote to ask if I could put together a list of local outdoor classes, and while I have a few to add here, I am leaving it up the crowd to help her out. So here’s a start. Comment or email with any other additions.
Brookfield is hosting free outdoor classes again on Wednesdays at 5:30p with a different studio each week. Check the schedule here, and register.
For years, Tribecan Len Ellis led an early morning running group called The Pirates of Sunrise. When covid scattered many of his crew, he starting holding daily short workouts on Zoom — just 15 minutes starting at 12:45p. He warns that calling it a class is a stretch — there’s no teaching involved, but it’s something that you can do anywhere — pushups, planks, squats — and the Zoom ensures that it will keep you on a schedule. He makes up a different challenge for each month. “It’s not so well defined — it’s a quick group thing. If you like it, you’ll join again. If you don’t, you won’t.” Email Len at lenellis@gmail.com and he will share the link.
Tribeca resident Alan Filauro, a trainer for Exceed here until they closed this studio, is holding classes on Pier 25 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can book on this site or check his website here for more info.
SoulCycle has several outdoor classes a day at the rooftop of Tribeca 360 at 2 Desbrosses. See the full schedule here.
