BREAKFAST ON THE FIRE ESCAPE
My neighbor Ken Smith posted this shot plus a video of a raccoon making itself at home on his fire escape. Gotta say that’s a new one for me. And competition for the hawks!

I was driving and couldn’t catch a picture, but there’s now a billboard on the Miller Highway advertising Ohio this way: “Work from home not an overpriced studio apartment.” No thanks.
SANS GLUTEN AT FRENCHETTE
I’m always on the lookout for GF baked goods for one of my kids, who has celiac disease. New at Frenchette Bakery: the GF breakfast cookie. Somehow they worked in what I think was almond paste. Really good.
GRAND BANKS EAST
The Grand Banks folks have now also opened their BK outpost: Pilot in Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 6.
LMCC CLASSES FOR SENIORS
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council has a schedule of programs for older adults, with offerings ranging from a Japanese dance workshop to memoir writing. The classes are offered through June 30, and all are remote and free to attend. No previous experience is required, and art materials are provided.

Also, Reade Street Pub was sold and it’s final night was last night (5/13).
JB, Did they sell the building along with the business?
I’m not certain of the details. Just heard from a few friends that it was their last night and stopped by for one last hurrah. Talked to a couple of the old bartenders and they didn’t seem to know too much either.

They closed on the sale today and Brian had the place just about emptied out this afternoon. Rumor is that they intend to tear it down and build on the site, but maybe not immediately. It is outside the historic district and zoning would allow contextual heights.
