FARMERS MARKET AT 1 WHITE STREET
B. wrote to say that the new restaurant at and called 1 White Street has a farmers market on Thursdays, and that makes sense since the restaurant has its own farm in Ghent called Rigor Hill Farm. Hours are 10a to 2p. Stay tuned for their plans for the former Café Clementine space next door as well. It will be more of a quick service spot where they will also sell items from the farm — hopefully open by the end of the year.
AZIKIWE MOHAMMED AT THE SEAPORT
Tribecan Azikiwe Mohammed has a piece in multi-gallery art walk at the Seaport up now — his is installed at 193 Front and called Big Apple Gifts and Souvenirs, which “aims to provide New Yorkers with a different kind of souvenir—the kind you won’t find on Canal Street or in the shadow of a double-decker tour bus. The kind that reflect a different New York.” The show is produced by Black Gotham Experience’s Kamau Ware, and called “The Magic HOUR” referring to the time after the “dusk” that was the first year of the pandemic. It features more than 30 local artists, over five exhibitions with five curators at multiple sites. The galleries are open 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday to Sunday; special programming is held on Thursdays in select galleries beginning August 19 from 7–9 p.m.
PATISSERIE CHANSON SOON?
A. sent this pic of the floral arrangements added to Patisserie Chanson, which has been renovating the former Maison Kayser space (Greenwich and Harrison) since fall 2020. They last said they would have an end-of-summer opening, so it looks like that might just be happening…
