Seen & Heard: News out of Finn Square

NEW LOOK FOR FRIENDS OF FINN SQUARE
The Friends of Finn Square have a snazzy new website. They are looking for volunteers and donations. Plus I think the Parks Department or DOT owes them an overhaul; certainly the city needs to redo the sidewalks.

THE VIEWS FROM THE HOTEL BARRIERE
Jolene Howard took the neighborhood tour of the new Hotel Barriere on Desbrosses and grabbed these great Tribeca views. Plus the hotel has finally come into focus from the street view.

77 GREENWICH HAS A NEW NAME
77 Greenwich, the new skyscraper at The Battery that will also house the new PS 150 in the historic Robert & Anne Dickey House, is now called Jolie. When I toured it in March it was still very raw, and was simply called… 77 Greenwich. It’s expected to be finished in early 2022.

SUI PARK AND HEESEOP YOON AT SAPAR
Sapar Contemporary will host a two-person exhibition of Korean American artists Sui Park and Heeseop Yoon curated by Barbara Stehle, Ph.D. showing through Nov. 5 at 9 N. Moore. Sui Park creates a utopian world with cable ties and monofilament, weaving lines into three dimensions. Heeseop Yoon draws, collages and creates murals with masking tape.

  1. Thank you for your calling attention to Finn Square’s new website. Volunteers are welcome to help us plant bulbs on Saturday, November 13, at 11 AM.

The sidewalk is a hazard, with so many irregular bumps due to the locust trees’ root growth. We have been appealing to the DOT and NYC Parks for some time to widen the perimeter of the park.

Even though fall is here, the roses are still in bloom. Come by and enjoy.
