A. spotted it first and J. sent the snaps: the neighborhood’s northern-most bodega, United Grocery & Deli on Hudson and Vestry, is closed — at least temporarily.

GRAND BANKS IS OPEN FOR THE SEASON
We can chart the warming planet with the calendar for the Grand Banks: this year had to be one of its shortest winter seasons, since I know it was still open in early November. They did a soft open on Friday, and are taking reservations now for April.

The Friends of Duane Park is hosting its annual Shred Day in honor of Earth Day on April 23 from 10a to 2p. Bring your old files to the park.

HESTER STREET FAIR AT THE SEAPORT
The Hester Street Fair will start up again this Saturday & Sunday, April 23-24, from 11a to 6p at Pier 17. It features jewelry, art, baked goods and local vintage and home goods. See the line up here.
