Real estate broker Luis Vazquez, who runs the Fidi Fan Page on Facebook (which I assiduously avoid, I must admit — not Luis, but Facebook in general!) sent an email with a list of a whole crop of new openings in Fidi. Here’s a summary:
GAI CHICKEN & RICE
118 Fulton at Dutch
The fastfood local chain — there’s another on 45th Street — features riffs on essentially one thing: Hainanese fried chicken.
AMAZON GO
110 Maiden Lane | Pearl & Water
Continuing the creepy expansion of Amazon’s cashier-less bodegas is the latest Go store.
FARIDA CENTRAL ASIAN CUISINE & GRILL
32 Cedar | William & Pearl
The restaurant was opened in Midtown in 2018, serving “a synthesis of cuisines from Post soviet countries, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and beyond” including “hand-pulled noodles, handmade dumplings, UMKA pies, perfectly seasoned tender Shashlyk, delicious vegetarian dishes, authentic Uzbek brewed tea and decadent homemade desserts. We only use the highest quality HALAL meat and organic produce, locally farmed.” They also operate out of what looks like dozens of ghost kitchens around the city for 24-hour delivery.
DI FARA PIZZA
108 South Street | Beekman and Peck Slip
Luis says the Brooklyn (Midwood) original (1965) with outposts on Staten Island and the LES is opening in mid-May. If you do nothing else today, watch the video of Domenico (Dom) De Marco talking about why he makes pizza and why he was still cooking into his mid-80s. (He died just recently.) It will make you reconsider your life choices.

Dom DeMarco actually passed away a month ago, so you might want to adjust that text.
Thanks for telling me. Their website still reads that way…
