THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA
Once again, I was discombobulated when I got to the corner of Church and Worth. I knew I had just left Frenchette Bakery, but could not figure out why I wasn’t looking at construction. Congrats to all you Worth Street residents who have witnessed a new dawn. Now, onto Vestry…
EARTH DAY FOR KIDS AT THE SEAPORT
The Seaport will celebrate Earth Day for kids today with events at 25 Fulton Street led by Church Street School. There’s a planting event and a terrarium building event, both from 3 to 4. RSVP.
LMHQ HAS CLOSED
The Downtown Alliance’s workshare space LMHQ, which was on the 20th floor of 140 Broadway, has closed its doors, which is a shame since that was absolutely the best deal in town at $150 a year. I am sad to see it go, but I imagine I was in the minority. “As a result of changing needs, LMHQ will close its physical doors on March 31 and continue virtual programming as part of its parent organization, the Alliance for Downtown New York.”
CITY HALL PARK CELEBRATES EARTH DAY
The newly minted City Hall Park Conservancy will host its first event on Saturday, April 23: an Earth Day celebration from 10a to 1p on the East Lawn of the Tweed Courthouse in the northeast corner of the park. There will be art projects and planting activities, as well as chances to chat with a park ranger. More info here.
SHRED DAY IS SATURDAY
Friends of Duane Park’s annual shred day is Saturday, April 23, 10am – 2pm. Drop your piles of paper into our mobile shredder in Duane Park for free.
What’s going on with City Hall Park? It’s turned into a pile of dirt with very little grass. Any plans to re-sod it?
We are hoping for the announcement of re-sodding in key areas of City Hall Park. Certainly much work to be done in the park! Please reach out to us at https://chpc-nyc.org/contact-us if you’d like to help our efforts to work with the Parks Dept to make a better park for both the community and visitors!
And the hardscape throughout the entire park is a mess. Hard to believe they spent more than $20 million just 20 years or so ago to totally restore the park. It’s an embarrassment.
What a great idea the ‘shredathon’ in Duane Park was!! We managed to get 20 boxes of old papers shredded. I hope that the donations covered the costs of the shredder and left something decent for the Friends of the Park. A great chance for a clear out and to contribute to recycled paper. Thanks to the Friends of Duane Park for organizing.
Collected old documents for Duane Park’s Shredding day but, if you missed it TC posted another option on April 30 and that includes electronic recycling.

Thanks for these alerts, TC!
Yes, but now Barclays feels like the new Worth St.
