The Battery Dance Festival will run starting this Saturday, August 13, through the following Friday, August 19, and if you haven’t caught these lovely (and free!) performances with possibly one of the best backdrops ever, now is the time. It will remind you why we love living here. Plus, Wagner Park will be closed for the next two years. Hopefully Battery Dance will land at another downtown waterfront spot in that time…
The festival will celebrate Young Voices in Dance — or the next generation of choreographers. Performances are at 7p each night. August 15 will be host to a series of dances for India Independence Day.
You can see the full lineup here.
Battery Dance created its outdoor festival in 1982 as a way of engaging with its home community of lower Manhattan where it had been based since its founding in 1976. This is its 41st annual event in Battery Park City. To support them, click here.
