Seen & Heard: Holiday cheer in Duane Park

SINGALONG FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Friends of Duane Park will host its annual holiday concert in the park on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 5:30 to 7. The event will include singalongs and performances by two Church Street School students: Tribecan Aria Anjali and Fiel Alvarado, and singers from Brooklyn Friends.

LIVING IN THE SHADOW OF 9/11
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum will host a free discussion with an expert in disaster mental health, as well as a film director and survivor of the attacks to discuss the affect that 9/11 has had on the younger half of Millennials and the older half of Generation Z on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6p. Disaster mental health expert Karla Vermeulen refers to this group – those who were born between 1989 and 2001 – as Generation Disaster in her latest book of the same name. See more information here, and register. You can also watch live here.

PORTFOLIO ART & DESIGN MARKET
The teachers of the Portfolio School at 90 Hudson will be hosting a Holiday Arts & Design Market this Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10a to 5p. All items were fabricated by the staff, and the money will go directly back to the staff members who created them. They also chose a few items that they will raffle with the proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. See more info here.

NEW SIBLING FOR THE GRAND BANKS
The folks at Grand Banks and Holywater have made another completely logical, totally not impulsive purchase: the Coronet, the oldest registered yacht in the United States built in 1885 for oil tycoon Rufus T. Bush. Also NB: Holywater is now every day starting at 5p.
