In the News: Building wall collapse kills worker

MAN KILLED AT CONSTRUCTION SITE
The Trib reports that a wall collapsed at a building under construction at 126 Lafayette Street, just north of Canal, killing one worker and injuring three more last Tuesday. From The Trib: “The worker who died became trapped beneath the falling debris. Two other workers fell on top of the debris and a third man also was injured, said FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens.” The workers were demolishing a former commercial building.

The Post reports that a penthouse at 56 Leonard is on the market for $150,000 a month making it the city’s priciest rental currently on the market. The five-bedroom, 4½-bath has add-ons that include a driver, a housekeeper, a chef and art rentals.

CONTRACT KILLER WANNABE BUSTED IN BPC
The Broadsheet reports that the FBI met with a hitman twice in Battery Park City before the agency busted him there on Wednesday, according to a federal criminal complaint. “Maine resident Hyunkook Korsiak, aged 41, came to the FBI’s attention last August, when the Federal Bureau of Prisons intercepted a message in which he reflected on his desire to go into the contract-killing business. This led to an approach by an undercover FBI agent.”
