In the News: 10013 is the city’s wealthiest zip

The Journal has a feature on the sights and sounds — and real estate — of 10013, which they say is the city’s wealthiest zip code, which also includes Chinatown, Little Italy and parts of Soho. (Thanks to G. for getting me over the pay wall.)

See the map below, but it covers north of Chambers west of Church up to and including Hudson Square, and then east as far as the Bowery and as north as Broome.

The feature is a slideshow that gives a shoutout to Hudson River Park; The Odeon; Urban Archaeology, the interior design shop on Franklin; Shibui Spa at the Greenwich Hotel; Playing Mantis, the toy store on N. Moore; and the Tribeca Film Festival.

Some other good stats:

  • Population : 29,563
  • Median list price: $4.55 million;
  • Median price per square foot: $2134
  • Median days on the market: 68
  • Number of active listings: 202 — up 11 percent year over year.

The data comes from Realtor.com, which is operated by the Murdoch family’s NewsCorp, which also owns the WSJ.

  1. Why is this map different from the 10013 zip code map https://www.unitedstateszipcodes.org/10013/

    • Well, neither my map nor yours is official or from the USPS. As far as I can tell, you can only search by address on the USPS site. So I was using mine as an approximation.

  2. I don’t think excluding the block on Thomas St between West Broadway an Church is accurate.
