Seen & Heard: Pizza Joint Closing?

••• From KGB Deals: $25 for $50 food and drinks at Salaam Bombay.

••• Look what popped up on the revised agenda for the CB1 Tribeca Committee meeting on Mar. 9: “61 Murray Street, application for a wine and beer restaurant license for 61 Murray Street Restaurant Corp.” That’s where Palermo Pizza is—or, as we’ll soon be presumably saying, where it used to be. UPDATE: See comments: I may have gotten ahead of myself here.

••• On Mar. 27, Magda’s Style Room—”a private and unpretentious network of style minded people who donate and purchase from a highly selective inventory of top quality clothing and accessories”; its founder, Amber, you may know from her work bartending at Duane Park restaurant and Ward III—will be hosting a mixer at Duane Park on Mar. 27.

••• On its Facebook page, Let There Be Neon shared a cool photo of a work—one of two “Twin Towers”—by Ivan Navarro, currently at Paul Kasmin Gallery. It seems like LTBN worked on it.

••• Speaking of art, reader Jill reminded me that there’s another work by Olek (she of the recent tribute to Banksy) is up on Greene, just above Canal….

••• From Tribeca Wine Merchant: “Jacques Lardiere, the world-renowned technical director and wine maker for the exceptional Burgundy house Louis Jadot, will be joining us for a presentation of the remarkable 2009 vintage, followed by an incredible dinner [at Bouley Test Kitchen] featuring the greatest wines Jadot has produced from 1990 through today. Jacques is an absolute legend in the wine industry, and is in the process of retiring, so don’t miss this opportunity to meet the man behind one of Burgundy’s most influential producers!” It’s on Mar. 22.

  1. Wow, so sure that the neighbors on Murray Street are going to welcome another liquor establishment with open arms. Could it be that the pizza place just wants to serve beer and wine?

  2. Hmm… You could be right–it is just a beer/wine license request, so maybe Palermo’s isn’t closing.
