The photographer Robert Ripps caught the bulk of the installation of the giant sturgeon on Pier 26 yesterday and Grand Banks owner Alex Pincus spotted the arrival of the oversized reeds on his way to the “office” Wednesday. The fish arrived by container from the factory in Denmark in pieces, and then were trucked to the site. The two wooden creatures will be the focus of the Pier 26 science play area, next to the “estuarium,” a facility designed for the study of the river, being designed now.

I LOVE these. I wonder how they will survive the wear and tear and elements since they are made of wood. So whimsical. I think adults will be at this playground as well.
