••• A new exercise facility, Bari Studio, is opening soon at 23 Leonard, between W. Broadway and Hudson. I had a coffee this morning at RBC NYC with founder Alexandra Pérez, and we agreed it made more sense for me to officially welcome her to the neighborhood—and write about her and what she’s up to—when the studio is open. (But if you go to Bari’s Facebook page, you can learn more in the “info” section about the classes they’ll offer: Bari, Budokon, and BudoKidz.) Alexandra gave me a tour of the space, which is taking shape—it has some wonderful Tribeca details, including wooden front doors and archwork in the brick walls.
••• On Saturday, Mar. 26, the Algonquin Seaport Theater will host a “community event” at its new space at Pier 17 (89 South St.): “The all day party, hosted by Nick Ciavatta, introduces the Algonquin Seaport Theater to its neighbors, community, tourists and the seaport itself and will feature family activities, comedy and live music from bands such as The Karen Davis Duo, Gerald Lucas, and Niall Connolly.” 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
••• Also on Mar. 26: A brisket-cookoff benefit for the New Amsterdam Market at Jimmy’s No. 43. And on Apr. 9, New Amsterdam Market will hold a fundraiser, South Street Oyster Saloon.
••• At 6 p.m. on Mar. 22, meanwhile, CB1 will hold a public hearing about the mayor’s budget at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. A shame I need to miss that one….
••• And on Mar. 30, TriBeCafe will hold a Sakuri Matsuri (cherry blossom festival): “For the entire evening (from 5:30 p.m.–1:30 a.m.), we will be offering a limited bar of beer, wines and soft drinks for only $15. In addition, we’ll also be offering some special cocktails at the irresistible price of 2-for-$10.”
••• Do Yoga Do Pilates is now offering prenatal Pilates.
••• I took two photos of the World Trade Center today: One to show how tall 4 World Trade has grown, and the other because I liked how 1 World Trade is reflected in 7 World Trade.
