40 WALL DOWNGRADED
Crain’s reports that a package of loans that includes one connected to 40 Wall, the Trump Building, a 1.2 million square-foot, 72-story building. From Crain’s: “With cash flows deteriorating, this week Fitch downgraded a portion of the security holding 40 Wall St.’s mortgage from an investment-grade BBB- to BB, which is a junk credit rating.”
MITCHELL GOLD + BOB WILLIAMS CLOSES
The longtime Soho furniture store Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has closed and the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early September, less than two weeks after it ceased operations of its 27 retail locations and its North Carolina–based manufacturing facilities. See the stories at the Business of Home and the Washington Post. From The Post: “The furniture business of Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams once survived their personal breakup. But the 34-year-old company that became known as Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams could not survive its latest ownership by a family-run equity firm.”

Eater visited both Casa Carmen and its main critic, Robert Sietsema, runs down his faves on the menu, including the red snapper Veracruz: “The city’s signature dish ($35) here is different by a mile. A crisp-skinned branzino filet, in a sauce of sliced tomatoes, green olives, and caperberries, is as fresh as an ocean breeze with no chiles in sight.”
