I love getting my annual reminder note from Tracy Nieporent of Tribeca Grill, Nobu and beyond — because he never fails to be personal and thoughtful and complimentary. (He also sends a holiday email that is even more detailed.) The personal note, digital or otherwise, is a lost art. And that is my rant of the day!

Restaurant Week, which for years was run by Tracy (he is now chair emeritus) starts Tuesday, Jan. 16, and runs through Sunday, Feb. 4 Search here for the rundown.

Restaurants are offering two-course lunches or three-course dinners for $30/$45/$60. Check the listings, though, because price options, meal offerings, menus and participation dates vary by restaurant. This year there are over 600 participating restaurants across all five boroughs in 82 different neighborhoods serving 58 different cuisines.
