Seen & Heard: New plastic surgeons on Greenwich & Canal

NEW PLASTIC SURGEONS IN HUDSON SQUARE
Plastic surgeons Dr. Oren Tepper and Dr. Evan Garfein recently opened a practice just north of Canal — Greenwich Street 497. The pair have backgrounds in academia and reconstructive plastic surgery, and have been responsible for ground-breaking cases including the separation of conjoined twins Jadon and Anias McDonald and for pioneering in AI and 3D plastic surgery innovations. Tepper attended NYU for medical school and Garfein Columbia. They both did fellowships at NYU.

NEW CONCEPT FOR WHOLE FOODS
Whole Foods Market announced yesterday that it is introducing a new, quick-shop store format called the Daily Shop, designed to provide a quicker, more convenient shopping experience. The first one will be at Third and 69th; there’s a real Whole Foods at Third and 57th. Plus they said they are adding additional locations in the city this year, before they expand to other urban markets. Soooo… I am thinking maybe they pick Hudson Square as a downtown location? The stores range between 7000 and 14,000 square feet, about a quarter of a regular WF.

IT HAPPENED HERE: ST PAUL’S CHAPEL
A free symposium on the history of St. Paul’s Chapel will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2:30 to 4:30p, at the chapel at 209 Broadway. The chapel opened in 1766 and has been continuously operating since then. It survived the fire of 1776 and was where many of the founding fathers prayed, including George Washington, who famously went there after his inauguration on April 30, 1789. There will also be an informal look at historic documents, a tour of the building and graveyard led by the architects, and afternoon tea. The event is sponsored by cultureNOW, the Lower Manhattan Historical Association, the Federal Hall Conservancy and Trinity Wall Street. Register here.

FREE PERFORMANCES ON GOVERNOR’S ISLAND
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a four-date series called Party as Performance at The Arts Center at Governors Island. The first event is March 28: a listening and dance party with YiuYiu 瑶瑶 of Chinatown Records. On May 18, Party as Practice will be hosted by Yackez and in June, Party as Participation will be hosted by Elisabeth Smolarz. LMCC will hold its annual Downtown Dinner fundraiser at The Conrad Downtown on April 15, honoring Bill T. Jones. More info here.
