V CAFE IS STILL OPEN
Several people emailed me — panicked — that V Cafe was closing. (Thanks for the notes all!) There’s a for-rent sign in the window. But chef and owner Lan Tran Cao assures me it is not happening — at least for now. “Yes, I did post the sign but may be there’s a chance to continue,” she wrote. “Will keep you posted.” The space has been listed for years, and as I recall, the commercial condo is for sale…

V Cafe has been closed all week. Whether they resolve the issue with the landlord and re-open, we shall see. Bummer if they don’t — yet another affordable restaurant in the neighborhood with good lunch options, gone.
I am pretty sure the landlord operates the restaurant, so there shouldn’t be an issue. She’s been trying to lease/sell the space for years.
We tried going to V Cafe for lunch earlier this week. They were closed. I do hope they can resolve things with the landlord. It would be a big loss the neighborhood if they close.
I hope Tribeca doesn’t become the new SoHo where so many store fronts sat empty due to unreasonable rents.
